Levels of self-employment are soaring and many people are realizing the benefits of working for themselves. We started this discussion in our last post Why Working From Home is Better. One popular form of home based business is working from home MLM and there are many advantages to running this type of business over a typical 9-5 job. Detailed below are some of the advantages to running your own working from home MLM business.
What is MLM?
Incase you don’t know what MLM is, let me share with my friend Sourav’s words:
MLM or Multi-level Marketing is an alternate form of distributing products and services. Instead of using the traditional distribution channel ( Distributors – retailers – consumers), MLM companies sell their products and services directly to consumers. That’s why it’s also called Direct Selling. When these consumers or customers like these products and services, naturally they start sharing it with others. That’s in human nature, right? We love to talk about and share things we like. But the fun part is, MLM companies pay you when people buy their products and services from your recommendation. But the awesomeness doesn’t stop there, you are given an option to build a team of Distributors (generally consisting of happy consumers recommended by you and those you recommend and those they recommend and so on … ). Contrary to common misconception, you are not paid to recruit people, you are paid depending on the total sales volume generated from your entire team. Instead of spending money on advertisements, MLM companies reward their consumers and distributors for their word-of-mouth advertisement efforts.

Is It Possible to Run an MLM Business from Home?
Though the essence of MLM business was always around working from home, but earlier you needed to get out of your home more to meet new people, share your products and services with them, train your team, attend seminars etc. But Internet made MLM a truly working from home business model. Now you can meet new people from all over the world, share your products and services with them, train your team, attend seminars (webinars) everything from your computer or even smartphone.
So yes, it is possible to run an MLM business from home.
Advantages of Working From Home MLM:
There are many advantages, let me share some that are coming into my mind right now.
First of all, an MLM business gives you the flexibility to work the hours that you want to work. You are not obliged to work overtime, you can take holidays and days off for special occasions if you want to; your time is your own.
It’s almost impossible to get a pay rise in a regular 9-5 job, which leaves a lot of people struggling on their usual income while the cost of living continues to rise; this situation has left many people in debt. However, with MLM, you can set your own earning goals. Whether you are looking to double your income, or just live comfortably without having to worry about debts, MLM can provide you with the financial freedom you’ve always desired.
There are tax benefits to setting up your own MLM business as well. If you are working from home, there are some costs that you can deduct for business expenses. This will include costs such as Internet access, a portion of the mortgage or rent payments, and the costs of conferences and phone bills. MLM business owners might also find that the monthly auto delivery fees that many MLM companies have are also tax deductible.
By working for yourself in your own MLM business, there is no boss to answer to. Many people resent working for someone else and they don’t like taking orders; if you are one of those people, then your own MLM business might be a good option for you.
Working for somebody else is becoming increasingly stressful. Employers are often asking employees to work that little bit harder and they’re asked to do unpaid overtime. A lot of people are forced to work out of town because they cannot get a job locally and have to endure stressful commutes there and back. Moreover, with modern technology, employees are always contactable and employers often expect their staff to always be available even out of work hours.
What is Residual Income?
Working 9-5 doesn’t pay you a residual income, but MLM does. To begin with, this residual income might be small and only cover expenses such as Internet bills and phone bills and gas for the car, but overtime this residual income will grow and will help to make you much more comfortable financially.
