Toronto’s Ripley Aquarium
OK, so let me tell you about my stressful day and how I managed. I am sure you don’t know this about me, I’m generally a calm person and nothing usually rattles me. But I am Human like everybody else and I have my occasional flare ups. But even those are uneventful and don’t usually last very long. But I have my trying days and today was no exception. Let me tell you about my day. I have a 3 and a half year old that goes to daycare. The daycare had planned a trip to a newly opened Ripley’s Aquarium in my city. The Daycare needed some volunteers in an adult supervisory role so I put my name down. Before leaving the house to get to the daycare I filled my thermos from one of my favourite brands of coffee and off I went with Child in tow. I am so glad that I did, this place is incredible. Before you go, I highly suggest that you buy your tickets online first. Or else you will be waiting inline. Thousands of species of Aquatic life. Including all salt water and sea water creatures. I was astounded at this building and all the displays. This place was so busy that they had customers waiting outside lined up to get in. Anyway, once we got in first thing I noticed was that it was so crowded. It was like being on a crowded Subway. I’m sure you get the picture now. We were all packed in there like a can of Sardines, pun intended.
Now here’s my point. Even though I’m usually a calm person, crowds do get on my nerves. There were kids every where screaming and yelling. Parents losing their cool, even in our group you can tell that some counselors nerves were getting frazzled, but they kept their composure. As for me, I was like a Cucumber. As in cool as. I had my Kid and she was great. Pulling me in all different directions. OMG Daddy look, pointing at the Nurse Sharks. She was a little overly stimulated to say the least but I got through it with flying colors. Now being in that Aquarium dark and watching those fish float by. Now that reduces stress. They even had low calming music, almost like humming. Come to think of it I am sure now looking back it might have been whale sounds we have heard before.
When we exited the building outside it was hot. People with umbrellas to shade themselves from the Sun. I will never understand that. A few months from now were going to be Butt deep in snow. Whatever. Our Bus crawled into bumper to bumper traffic, an hour and a half later me and my Kid finally got home. I scrambled to get Dinner ready for me, my wife and my child Mary. Went to work came back and now I’m writing this blog. Being with my child really made my day, she’s the love of my life. The reason I wake up in the morning. She was so happy to be there as was I. Anyway I was able to handle the stress of being in a group taking care of 10-15 children, plus my own.
Now I am not with the Tourism board for Toronto or the Ripleys Aquarium. LOL! But if you find yourself in our great city. Check out this Aquarium and all the other wonderful sites Toronto has to offer. You wont be sorry.
Got another great idea for another blog coming very soon!
