I decided to write a blog about the summer because not too long ago as I was looking out the window and watching the snow plows drive up and down my street. I could hear them making that scraping sound and occasionally making a spark or two. Ah yes, Summertime. “Summertime is when a young man’s fancy turns to thoughts of love”……for his motorcycle. His ride, his hog, my bike”. When I was right about to turn that dreaded age of half a century, UGH! Wifey asked me what have you always wanted, I mean really wanted? It is your 50th coming up so really treat yourself. We were in one of those nail salon places when she asked me, so I started thinking about it. Then I saw it and I heard it thunder by. It was black with tons of chrome, looked menacing. And the driver on top of this beast wore a leather jacket, jeans and white helmet. He looked like Brando in The Wild One. I know Brando wore a cap but nowadays wearing a helmet is mandatory almost everywhere you go. Anyway, the thing roared by shaking the pictures on the walls and everybody had to stop talking for a few seconds because this thing was so loud that no one could hear you anyway. I recently attended the last motorcycle show and I swear I was like, OMG! OMG! OMG! OK, I want that, I want that and that. What is a boy to do? Naw just kidding, I know what I want. I know the model, color and accessories. I’m riding a Harley right now but not the model I’ve always wanted. Money was an issue but hopefully it won’t be next Spring. Then I can slap some money down at my local Harley dealer and tell the sales person. I want that, that “Bad Boy” right there. That’s my Fat Boy. That’s what I am thinking about this next Spring.
Now, what does my wife think about when Spring is right around the corner? She already has her Magazines, tools, plans and work clothes at the ready. Which includes gloves, cap and older jeans that she doesn’t mind getting dirty or ripped. She loves Gardening. She will plant an assortment of veggies, flowers, roses and other beautiful shrubbery and turn the backyard into her own personal shangri la. I know, kinda corny I know. But you know what, when her Garden is finished and she has it done her way. By midsummer When the roses are flowering, the Jasmine is blooming, I’m telling you that back yard has a heavenly scent and aroma to it. It almost makes the backyard come alive with fragrances and smells that anyone can appreciate. I can certainly see why so many people love this hobby. My wife has the green thumb in the family not me. Now that we have a 4 year old she likes to help Mummy. She’s so cute with her hat, tiny gloves and her tiny pink shovel. As they are doing their thing that gives me the chance to get on my “Steel Horse” and ride. I can hear Wifey yelling. Hey Bad Boy. Dinner is at 6:00.
