Here is a blog post for all you animal lovers out there. Even if you’re not still a nice story.
Garbage Bag with a Tail Sticking Out of It
I would say close to 10 years ago I was coming home from my job. We were busy that day and I found myself going home at about 10:00pm. Now I have my garage as a separate building so yes I have an alley way. So it’s garage, backyard then backdoor to my home. Well it was a Tuesday night which meant that Wednesday is garbage day. My wife sometimes has the habit of putting bags of garbage in backyard for me to put in garage when coming home. Well this Tuesday night was a little different. Opened the door to step in backyard to see a garbage bag with a tail sticking out of it.
“OMG! What is that? “
I quickly retreated back into garage but I poked my head through to see what was in the bag. I worried that it could be a rabid skunk or raccoon. But it was a grey cat.
And We Became Cat Owners
This thing looked pathetic, all skin and bones totally starving. We both cautiously approached each other. I think that we had an instant bond. I am an animal lover and she, well she’s an animal. I rang the door bell and a couple of minutes later my wife came out side. I told her the same story I just told you and I asked her what shall we do with this poor stray. Without hesitation she said that we should keep her. Yes, that’s what we should do.
So after I cleaned up the mess this little beast just made I suggested to my spouse that maybe we should put up some fliers to find the owners. So I looked into my wife’s big puppy dog eyes and she said: “No this cat doesn’t have owners. Besides look at how emaciated she is, she’s been abandoned”. Actually my wife was right, cat did look abandoned. As she was telling me this cradling this animal like a newborn baby. Alright instantly we were cat owners.

So first things first, very next day we took her to vet for a check up and schedule a spaying. The vet looks her over and says she’s a little malnourished but otherwise just fine. But we can’t do a spaying just yet, as she is expecting a litter in about 2 months time. OMG! I look at my wife and ask her what have we gotten ourselves into here? In hindsight I can’t let this thing have it’s litter in an alley way. That would of been cruel. Besides, one of God’s creatures and all. So my wife being an animal lover herself started interviewing good owners for the kitties and after an extensive background check, LOL!. We gave away 4 out of the 5 kittens. We kept one, he was the biggest one of the litter so I named him “Fat Tony”. After one of my favourite characters from the Simpsons.
