So why did I decide to get on top of a motorcycle after all these years. After all, I’m 51 years and there are more important things to spend my time and money on. Here are my top 3 reasons why I decided to get on a Hog.
3 Reasons to Get a Motorcycle at 50
When I turned that milestone age of 50 years old of age. My wife asked me once, “This is a special birthday. What have you always wanted? Think about it and we will see what we can do”. We were in a nail salon when she asked me this. We were about to go on vacation. Vegas baby. Yes a nail salon. I still had winter feet. Besides a guy has to look his best right. I was thinking about it and all of a sudden this motorcycle came rumbling by that shook the photos on the wall. Then it hit me, I’ve always wanted a Fatboy. That’s a Harley Davidson for all the non cool types out there. So reason number one, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine.
I’ve always been the adventurous type. Doing stuff that my friends didn’t want to do. I really didn’t care Though. Even if I was alone. I did what I wanted and never looked back. It’s a good thing that I met my wife when I did. I’m settled down now, live in the suburbs and with people relying on me. Or else the roads of North America would be calling me and I would ride there. So I guess that’s my reason number two. The adventurous side of me.
Have you ever been on a motorcycle? The freedom, the sense of accomplishment mastering a 600-800 lb beast, liberating, the sense of adventure. Pure freedom. Not to mention the really cool shopping. Pure Italian leather jacket, boots, t-shirts. That’s reason number three. The absolute joy of riding.
P.S. Please check your blind spots. We are so vulnerable. We’re people like you with families and friends. And the reason why our bikes are so loud is to be heard. Can’t tell you how many times people have told me that right before they made a lane change. “I didn’t see you but I heard you“.
What do you think?
