I have been battling to keep my weight down basically all my life. I guess you can say that it all started when I was child. 5 or 10 years old. If I didn’t eat everything that was on my plate, I would feel the wrath of my old school strict Italian parents. Don’t really want to say what they did but lets just say I had to eat everything on my plate. I don’t want to open up any old wounds and blame my elderly Mother, I’ll just have to deal with these emotions. But here I am a grown man in my 50’s with the attitude that I need to finish off everything on my plate. That’s why I’m so easy going with my 3 year old. If she says “Daddy I’m not hungry”, I wont push her. Or else she is going to be a chubby little girl. Her Daddy was a chubby little boy at that age and it was very hard for me. I don’t want her to grow up into adulthood with these deep seeded weight problems like her old man. Now this blog isn’t a weight loss blog but maybe a preventative weight problem for your children. She doesn’t want to eat then I wont push her. Besides, she probably still full from what she ate at her Daycare.
As far as exercise goes. me and my wife recently bought her a tri cycle. She’s always on that thing. With her tiny feet and little legs just pedaling away. If it’s not that she loves to go for walks to the park. Little swings and those jungle gyms, she has a blast. When all three of us are driving and my daughter yells Daddy look another park. Even if it’s far, I’ll drive her there and she can go on the swings there. Any physical activity she wants to do, I’m all for it. Even took her to a Trout Farm a couple of times. Ever been to these places? It’s awesome, there stocked with farm raised Trout and you catch them and pay for them. Goes by weight, couple of bucks per kilo I think it was. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, if your kid doesn’t want to eat and would rather go outside and play. Let them. Just a suggestion.
I haven’t had a weight problem all my life, there was a period there in the nineties early 2000′s. I worked out like a madman. I would say for about a 5 year period I was in tremendous shape. I can honestly say that I was almost an amateur athlete. I would joke around with people and say that I used to get my mail at the gym. This was just before I met my wife. So in closing, if your kid doesn’t want to eat, don’t force them.
