A lot of the time it’s not hard to spot ADHD in kids. But adults can have more subtle symptoms. This means many adults struggle with ADHD and may not know they have it. At times it’s not really that dificult to spot ADHD symptoms in your child. But in Adults the symptoyms are a lot more subtle. Meaning adults may be struggling with ADHD and they don’t even know it.
With so many conditions we are aware of nowadays I recall reading an article about Adult ADHD. Adults with ADHD may not realize that the problems they have with work, relationships and family are because of the disorder too. Some Adults may not even realize that the problems they have at work can be attributed to their non diagnosed condition. We might not even give it a second thought because we figure it’s a child or adolescent condition.
The article interested me so I kept on reading. It listed some symptoms that I noticed sometimes afflicted me. As I kept on reading I was getting more engrossed in what the article said because I kept saying to myself yes that happens to me or has happened to me. Below listed are the reasons why I think I might have a slight Adult ADHD problem. See if you have any of the same symptoms.
-As a child I had problems reading. Not what the words meant but almost instantly forgetting what I had just read. Now this was something that I always thought that everybody experienced but not really. Actually if I were to read slowly, I could remember things. Like for a test or something. It hampered me all through High School and eventually I quit school. But, I’m happy and proud to say that I took a couple of courses recently, wrote my test and now I have a GED Equivalency High School Diploma. WOO HOO!
-Concentration Problems. There are times that I can be staring at my monitor or a letter and I’m just fixated on it. Almost staring at whatever I was reading. Sometimes my wife pokes me and asks me if I’m finished reading. Whatever I was reading it wasn’t really clicking in my head what the letter or email was trying to say. Eventually yes I would have a “Aha Moment” moment but it comes a little slowly at times. Brain fog, you know what I mean?
-Scatter brained. I can’t tell you how many times I got distracted writing this blog. I sat down, wrote the title. Then I Googled the Hockey scores then did a search on the health benefits of Coconut Oil then checked my emails. I got distracted with so much more stuff but I think you get the jist of it.
Here are some of my other symptoms.
-I have at least half dozen projects around the house waiting to get finished
-bad or inconsistent sleep patterns
There’s more but like I said, my symptoms were slight to mild but real nonetheless. Now, no I haven’t see a Dr about these symptoms and no I haven’t been officially diagnosed with Adult ADHD? So how did I overcome or ease these symptoms? Now I want to tread lightly here because I’m not selling anything or trying to sell you anything. I have always had a tremendous urge to help others in any aspect I can. Whether it be advice on being a Dad or whatever. In this case I wanted to share my experience with these #ADHD symptoms
